Applying the Internet model to the cannabis industry

We are seeing more and more often more and more news about the cannabis industry that bring us back to the days when the Internet was an emerging industry (say, circa 1995). We see the same uncertainty around legal issues (more pronounced in the case of the cannabis industry but let’s not forget that there were plenty of legal discussions around Internet content, usage, etc.). We also recognize the same amount of enthusiasm by business people and the hand-wringing about what the best ways to create business value and generate revenues are. And we see similar ancillary businesses and techniques informed by the Internet industry/history popping up all over the country:

Will the parallels extend to unicorn valuations for cannabis startups in the near future? We certainly hope so!
